Meet Piper

On June 2, 2010, at the age of 2 ½, Piper was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL), a type of cancer of the blood and bone marrow. At diagnosis, 99% of Piper’s blood cells were cancerous. For these reasons, she was categorized as “high risk” and required a more rigorous treatment protocol. After 28 months of treatment, including more than 700 doses of chemo, 28 spinal taps, 4 surgeries, a year of isolation and more visits to the hospital than her mom can count, Piper remains cancer-free, happy, smart, clever and wise beyond her 5 years. She loves to paint and color, make people laugh, visit the beach and swim, go to kindergarten, eat tomatoes off the vine, dance to Katy Perry’s “Firework”, and sleep with too many stuffed animals to count. She is stubborn and feisty and knows she is a rock star! Today, Piper’s mom and dad celebrate every day she is cancer-free and look forward many more celebrations with their amazing daughter!
