He recently
turned 5 and has Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. He was diagnosed on
03/02/12. The first month after diagnosis he and his family stayed in
the hospital for 19 days. During that time he had to battle the stomach
bug for two weeks and then pneumonia. He lost 12 pounds and had to
basically learn to walk again due to the leukemia setting in his hip.
He grew strong enough to be released but was admitted again a week later
because he had developed three cysts in his leg. Thankfully Nathaniel
hasn’t had to have any more in-patient stays since and is continuing on
with the “maintenance phase” of his treatment and tackling Kindergarten
at the same time. Nathaniel’s favorite things are Transformers,
Play-Doh, trucks, tractors, trains and games….typical all-American boy
stuff! And he likes to run! Did I mention that?? He was on the go the
entire time we visited the museum. It truly warmed my heart on that
cold, winter day to see this little boy so full of fight! I had a
wonderful time with this family and would like to thank The Milton J.
Rubenstein Museum of Science and Technology in Syracuse, NY for hosting
this incredible little boy’s Gold Hope session. Living in Upstate NY
can make it difficult to do outdoor sessions in the winter with our
precious fighters. We had cancelled our first scheduled session in
November due to bad weather and it looked as though we would need to
wait until Spring until we heard from the good people at the MOST-SYR!
