Meet Micah

Micah is an eighth grader who loves video games and being at the beach. If you spend time with this healthy, active boy you would never guess the path he has traveled. Micah was diagnosed with T-Cell ALL Leukemia in August of 2008. He was in the 4th grade. His treatment lasted a total of three and a half years. His mother says she wanted to be part of TGHP so people at the beginning of their treatment might see Micah and realize there is HOPE and an end to it one day. In her opinion, the massive time frame of a child's treatment is one of the scariest parts of the diagnosis.... realizing you have to live with it for so long. As if this diagnosis weren't enough for this family, tragedy recently struck. While approaching the end of Micah's therapy last November, his father was killed by a drunk driver. He missed seeing Micah reach the his goal of December 4th, 2011 which was the last day he took a treatment and the end of the very long journey for the family. Though missing their husband and father, this family rejoices at Micah's victory. He is currently off therapy and December 4, 2012 was his one year "off therapy" anniversary. Micah is now in the 8th grade. He is an honor roll student and very active in school. He has weathered many storms in his short life and has faced them with courage and heart. We celebrate with you and your family, Micah!
