Meet Elyssa

Elyssa's battle began at the age of 15 months when she received a heart transplant because of viral myocarditis ( a virus destroyed her heart muscle). Elyssa did well until the age of 6 when she began to have bleeding problems - she was diagnosed with autoimmune issues. Over the next 14 years she had frequent transfusions, chemo treatments and hospitalizations. In Dec 2011 she was dx with Myeloid dysplastic syndrome (MDS) also known as pre leukemia and in March 2012 she received a bone marrow transplant with her sister Lynsey as the donor.
