Meet Addison

August 2012, Addison excitedly started her first grade school year. After a day at a local county fair and getting to ride the “big rides”, Addison immediately developed a painful ear infection. Later in the week and still on antibiotics, Addison had a low grade fever for several hours. Over the next month, Addison developed three more low grade fevers. Addison was diagnosed with T-cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL). She had a mass in her chest area and had a very high blast count in her bloodstream. Addison's strong will and independence has been assets to her fight against her t-cells (know to her as her T-Rex cells that are bullying her A & B cells). Within one month, the mass in her chest had disappeared, and she was in remission. She now has a long road ahead of her to keep the leukemia cells out of her body and stay in remission. Our little warrior has continued to fight. When she has the energy, she is running around with her friends and family. She attends school as much as possible and recently started hip hop dance classes. Addison is an awesome big sister to Avery and Ansley. While her sisters miss playing with her when she is not feeling well. Addison still leads the group of sisters and tries to take care of them. Addison continues to be “addiegirl strong” as she is entering the fourth phase of treatment. She was such a joy to photograph, loving on her family and giving me big smiles when we talked about her favorite doctor. Please continue to think about Addison, as she has the next month to go through treatment, and then she will be in the final stage long term maintenance for a year and a half.Addison's caringbridge: http://www.caringbridge.org/visit/addiegirlImages by: https://www.facebook.com/marissabowers.adp
