Meet Chase

Chase is a happy, healthy 12 year old who loves to laugh, loves his family and loves life. The battle of his life began at only 6 months of age. Chase was diagnosed with a Desmoplastic Infantile Astrocytoma brain tumor in September of 2000. He underwent two, eight hour brain surgeries to resect the tumor. It was entwined in his optic nerve, and he suffered a stroke with the first surgery and has left-sided hemiplegia. He underwent 13 months of chemotherapy and had a permanent shunt implanted in his head. The tumor eventually shrunk and has been stable for 10 years, he is his Mom and Dad's miracle boy! He is a reminder that mountains can be climbed despite seemingly insurmountable odds. He is in 6th grade and loves the New York Yankees, N.C. State Wolfpack, Kenny Chesney music, and "hot" middle school girls.
